About Me

My photo
This blog is about the love I feel for this planet. It's about my soul on canvas. It's about my ruthless life, in constant contact with the world. It's about the love that moves life. http://www.busanhaps.com/article/interview-italian-artist-karma-chodon

PORTRAITS

On commission I can make a portrait in acrylic or water-colours from your favourite picture or on a subject of your choice.

DEAD NATURE
40,50cm X32,50cm
Mainly Acrylic on canvas
Mixed technique
This is a sarcastic title representing my political argument about what is happening in the world: the massive manipulation of the Earth and this constant battle between money and the nature. We do not need to destroy the planet in the name of profit. A time may come when Mother Earth decides to bite back.

DMZ (DE MILITARIZED ZONE)
59,50cm X 39,50cm
Acrylic on canvas
Life is like barbed wire. The only way out is through keeping your heart open and holding on to love. This is what I pictured when I saw my shadow in the demilitarized zone in Korea.

LIFE Shadow's auto portrait
39cmX 74cm
Korean rice paper (Hanji) Acrylics Watercolours
From a picture I took of my shadow in a cave in South Korea in 2013. In that cave was cold, rainy, grey and my shadow reflected on the wall, but at the end there was a way out, a light, a warm feeling. Just like in life!

EARTHLY DESIRES ARE ENLIGHTENMENT
21,50cmX27
Watercolours
Watercolour paper
Pastels
In these hands there is a mala. In each mala there are 108 stones representing the 108 desires from Buddhist philosophy. Through them we can find the path to enlightenment.

SOGNI (Dreams)
60,50x40,50 cm canvas
Korean watercolor on Hanji (traditional Korean watercolor paper), acrylic.
Felt, tulle, satin, lace

Working through sewing can feel like painting. Cutting different materials into pieces, the process of creation takes place on the canvas, as the picture comes alive through the combination of these shapes, just as it would with a brush. In this painting, I wanted to give life to the many dreams that lie in my heart. My inspiration has been taken from a passion for underwater diving.
One dream is the wish to be able to keep my inner child alive, regardless of my age or what happens in life. More importantly, it is the feeling about the dangerous reality that our planet is facing at the moment where I see myself as a Mermaid without real identity in a completely fake environment.

2 HEARTS
25x32,5cm
Korean rice paper
Korean watercolors on watercolor paper
Satin, velvet
Hand sowed
People sometimes come from similar stories. They find in each other's story sharing a way to create a marvellous relationship

WAITING
2 canvas 40,5x24cm
Acrylic on canvas
Made on the same kind of canvas, with the same media, from the same hands, they are only separated by sight. But they are one of a kind, waiting for each other to be together, just like a love story.

THE MONK
22x27 cm
Acrylic on wood

THE PRAYER
73cm x 60,50 cm
Acrylic on canvas
A Tibetan woman on the way to the temple praying  in the traditional way; her smile, her hair, the position of her hands, everything about her reminds us how strong life is, how beautiful it is to live without fear of death. Look at the strength of her prayer, fighting against the odds, the negativity of life… and winning! This is what is in her face: victory!

ROSES AT TEMPLE
(The spirit of the offer)
81x52 1/2 x7cm
Acrylic on canvas
Chiffon,velvet, tulle
Flowers hand made and hand sewn on canvas.
I wanted to give to this floral offering a sense of infinity and everlasting life. Therefore, I recreated the flowers not by painting them but by rebuilding them from different materials, as if real, letting them live forever. This frame has been deliberately constructing without glass to represent our eternal offering to life and the environment we live in.

THOUGHTS
68x70cm
Acrylic on canvas hanging in the frame
This is a pattern I have seen since I was very young, I just wanted to express it.
4 little canvases mounted on purpose in the middle of the frame because they must flow in the space. This painting is designed to hang in a big window to represent life hanging on invisible delicate lines connecting the human being with the universe, including both the spiritual and the material world.

DREAMING
34x25cm
Sanguigna, watercolor,acrylic on water-colour paper
Every aspect of the human body is fascinating: its natural perfection and its sexuality. The most inspiring interpretation of it is that in its nudity there is the simplicity of our natural manifestation at its best. It is the link we have with our primordial origins.

GREEN WOMEN
53x83cm
Water-colour pencils on paper
What happen if.............
I change the point of view?
